50 degrees celsius would be like a living hell for a Brit. Well, that was one of the reasons the ‘whinging pom’ name came about.

It was 51 in NE Ohio USA
yesterday. I mean, Fahrenhei
t...but that’s still stupid warm for January 23. It rained all day, then got cold overnight and the rain changed to snow. My car was completely crusted over with ice this morning and it took 10 minutes of work to be able to open the door.

Average, sure, but not out of the ordinary to have warm days. In NE PA, I remember it being 60+ on January 1st 15 years ago because I was out riding quads with my friends and there was a creek crossing that we had to do, go soaked, but it was fine because it was so warm. I also do sort of a polar bear jump on new years day too, for the past 10+ years, it’s 50/50 as to weather or not there’ll be ice or it’ll be warm, some years we have to break the ice, have a big fire and get into dry clothes quickly, other years we can take our time getting dried off.

Warmest I remember is a couple of years ago, for my gf’s January 10th birthday. We had the windows open, and the high/ low for that day was like 70/ 58. We actually sat out in the backyard, lit a fire, and sat around drinking for a few hours.

I lived in the middle east for years. No idea how I made it through but these days anything north of 20 degrees has me sweating like a burglar on an I.D. parade.
